QUIZ: What are my chances of getting a part-time or flexible job?
Do the quiz below to get feedback and advice based on your answers.
For each pair of statements below, choose the one that suits you best:
I want a part-time job for 3 days a week or less (= 24 hours a week or less)
I am looking to work either 4 days a week, or for another form of flexibility such as some work from home, or flexible start and finish times
I am looking for a job that (if it were a full time job) would have a salary UNDER £20,000
I am looking for a job that (if it were a full time job) would have a salary OVER £20,000
I’ll be willing to compromise on the part-time/flexible arrangement
I’m very certain of the part-time/flexible arrangement I want and I’m not prepared to compromise
I’m unemployed at the moment, or on maternity leave and don’t want to go back to the same employer
I’m working at the moment, and looking for a new job
I have worked part-time or flexibly in my current job / in a previous job
I have never worked part-time/flexibly before
I’m very clear about my value in the workplace, and will not take a job below my skill level
Flexibility is so important to me that I will consider a lower paid job to get it
I’m happy to apply for full-time jobs, and negotiate flexibility when I get an offer
I think it’s a waste of time to apply for a full-time job intending to ask for flexibility – employers will always favour the full-time candidates
I’m happy using my contacts to find out about jobs and introduce me to employers
I feel embarrassed trying to get a job through people I know
I have always worked in the same type of role, so my CV is very clear and focused
I have worked in a variety of different types of role over my career
I don’t like applying for a job ‘on spec’ (when there’s no job ad, and you write to an employer to ask them to look at your CV)
I’m confident with researching employers and writing on spec
I live in Greater London
I do not live in Greater London
